A small plane crashed into the woods adjacent to a stretch of the Southern State Parkway on Long Island.
It happened in East Farmingdale between exits 32 and 33 around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, near the intersection of routes 109 and 110 and the Republic Airport.
The plane is a one-person aircraft.
Preliminary reports say the pilot survived and was conscious immediately after the crash.
Two lanes on the parkway were closed through the early evening after the incident.
This continues to be a developing story.
